How to become a hermit in 5 easy steps.

Step 1.  Buy Aion.

Step 2.  Get a low paying, second-shift job.

Step 3.  Go to work, play Aion, sleep.

Step 4.  Repeat daily until you start receiving voice-mails from friends you haven't seen in weeks asking you where the hell you have been.

Step 5.  Ignore said voice-mails because you're too busy playing Aion.

There you have it, folks. Just follow these simple steps and you too can become a hermit, just like me!

I found out the other day that my grandfather has prostate cancer. I didn't deal too well with it at first, but I guess they caught it really early and it is apparently one of the most treatable cancers. He had to have some injections or something (my mom was vague on the details) and will have to go for a couple rounds of centralized radiation in mid October.

It's amazing what goes through one's mind when you hear the word "cancer". And even though the doctors and everyone are saying there's nothing to worry about, I can't help it.

Supernatural season 5 premiere.

Wow. That's about all I can say about it right now as I don't have much time. But still, wow.

Finished out season 4 of Supernatural. Awesome. Watched the last 2 episodes tonight with Dani and loved them. I'm so glad that I only have to wait until Thursday to see what happens next. I'm really excited. Dani and I have discussed a few theories we have as to what might happen, not just with the overall story, but to a few of the individual characters. Good stuff.

I just hope I don't have to miss the premier because of work.

Watched this episode last night with Dani...

...I still can't stop laughing...

I seriously backtracked and re-watched that scene 3 times before we could finish the episode. Amazing.

Anyhow, we're moving pretty quickly through season 4. Dani's trying to get me finished with it before the new season starts. I'm excited. :D

Grr.

I can't get my new graphics card to work.

I have a bit of an older system.  I had my computer built for me about 6 years ago on a modest budget, so I don't have the greatest system in the world.  I was looking to extend the life of my desktop a bit longer by getting a video card that's better than the one I currently have.

Now, my motherboard is a KV8-Max 3.  Specs here.  I've got an AMD Athalon 64 3400+ processor, and for video I was running an ATI All in Wonder Pro 9600 Series.  Well, I was poking around on Newegg and found a Radeon X1650 Pro for a decent price and decided to order it.  It arrived today (yesterday) and I've spent the last 6 hours trying to get it to work.  Every time I put in the new card, my POST stops at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" and just sticks there.  I've tried everything, defaulted the BIOS, cleared the CMOS, unhooked unneeded hardware to make sure it wasn't a weak power supply.  I've checked and double checked to make sure that my system meets all the criteria for this card.  And, yes, I properly uninstalled all the software and drivers from my previous card before removing it and putting in the new one.  I just can't figure out what might be wrong unless the card itself is defective.

If anyone has any suggestions on anything that might help, I'd love to hear them.

I'm slowly going insane over this.

Well, I'm completely sleep deprived, having worked Friday night and only getting 2 hours of sleep before JAFAX started on Saturday, but I still had a fucking blast and bought a bunch of new stuff that I probably don't actually need. :D

I'll post pictures of the event (mostly costumes) on my photobucket later, when I have a chance.

Man, conventions are exhausting.

So. The economy sucks. I did have a job interview yesterday, so yay. We'll see how that goes.

In the meantime, my friend and I are trying to save for a new video camera for a Buffy-related project we are trying to make happen, so I've created this little donation thingy.

Please keep in mind, this is not me asking for a handout or begging for money. I'm just saying that if you want to help, here's how, and that we would truly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Dear Internet,

Please stop putting the 'Reset'/'Start Over' buttons next to the 'Preview'/'Play' buttons.  It's annoying.

A new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie?

That would be fucking epic!

A new Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie being made without Joss Whedon or any of the supporting characters we know and love?

WORST. IDEA. EVER.

D&D is fucking amazing.

So, we were playing tonight.  2 of our group couldn't make it so it was just Aaron, Shawn (who was joining us for the first time tonight) and me, as well as the DM, Derek.

Anyway, without boring you with details of our adventure thus far, we came to a cave in a mountain filled with goblins and god knows what else.  There was obviously a camp of them inside the cave, as we could hear them, and there was a small patrol going from the entrance of the cave, back inside, then back to the entrance.   So, naturally, we decide to kill them (our goal was to take out the encampment, anyway).  We had already killed another group of them that had been patrolling outside, anyway, so why not?  Aaron decides that his character is going to try and intimidate them, which he succeeds at, and makes the two goblins kill each other.  Aaron then decides he likes this intimidation thing.  Okay, cool.  But before the goblins completely die, they scream, and signal everything else inside the cave.

Fuck.

So, the entire encampment of goblins comes running out of the cave at Aaron's character.  This is when we realize there are not only goblins, but hobgoblins, a few orcs, and a bugbear.  Shawn and I had  our characters above the cave entrance so none of them knew we were there at all.  Aaron's turn.  He gets a smirk on his face, looks at us, looks at the DM and says "I'm going to try to intimidate them."  Derek, the DM, just looked at him in disbelief, and asked if he was sure.  After a bit of conversation about it, Aaron goes "I could always get a 20."  I looked straight at Aaron and said "Aaron, if you do this and roll a 20, I will literally kiss your ass."  Shawn asks "Bare ass?" and I agreed.

Moment of truth, Aaron picks up the d20 and rolls, all of us watching in anticipation to see what the fuck happens.  He shakes the die in his hand, drops it on the table, and we all watch it roll, roll, roll across the table, finally stopping on....

...20.

Holy fuck.

Shawn was so ecstatic he jumped up and ran screaming back and forth through the living room and we all just broke out into shock-laughter for like 10 minutes.  Aaron looked at me like "So, you gonna kiss my ass now?"  I said "Yeah, I told you I would, I'm not gonna take it back."  Thankfully he didn't make me do it bare assed.  So he came over and bent over and I bent down and kissed his ass.  Good times.

So, after we get over the fact that he actually rolled a 20 on that, we get back to the game.  Now, this entire time that we've been freaking out about the 20, Derek has been rolling dice and checking shit to figure out what exactly happens because of it.  He looks at us and tells us that all of the goblins, orcs, and the bugbear look at Aaron in complete fear and every single one of them ...commits suicide.  The only things that were not intimidated by him were the few hobgoblins that were in the group.

Out of a total of 39 things that were there to fight, Aaron intimidated 21 of them into mass suicide.  It was absolutely fucking amazing.

God I love this game.

Sometimes I don't understand people.

Marriage is supposed to be sacred.  It's supposed to be a vow between people to love each other and to work hard at continuing to love each other through thick and thin.  That means dealing with issues when they come up, talking, compromising, and working it out.  You don't get married just to say "fuck it" when you decide you can't handle it after one fucking year.  Marriage isn't some little trinket you just throw away when it's damaged.  It's not something you just go out and replace when it cracks.  You find the fucking crazy-glue and you paste that sucker back together.  Yes it requires WORK.  It's not just going to go right back to happiness and bunnies and kittens and candy all the fucking time.  If you try to force the pieces back together, they tend to break even more.  However, if you take some time, are gentle, and work carefully, the pieces CAN be fixed.  You just have to TRY.

I know the people this is directed at are never going to read this... but seriously... if they aren't even going to attempt to make things better... then what was the point of getting married in the first place?  Isn't that what "for better or for worse" means?  Seriously.  Grow the fuck up.

So, this is late, but whatever.

Went to the Repo! showing on Friday. Had a blast! It was awesome, except for one asshole who decided it would be fun to yell out stupid comments at inappropriate times during the movie. Finally, someone turned and told him off. Didn't hear a word from him after that. :D

We're going back for the showing next month, probably with more people since half the people who wanted to go to this one couldn't go. Also, Halloween plans are set, as they are doing a double feature of Repo! and Rocky Horror AND they're having Shilo and Graverobber (Alexa Vega and Terrance Zdunich) as guests. It will be epic!

Got a few pics up on Facebook and Myspace if anyone wants to check them out. It's mostly my friend Desiree posing for the camera, as she went dressed as Amber Sweet. Pics Here!

Repo madness

So, I saw Repo! The Genetic Opera a couple weeks ago, and have since been completely and utterly obsessed with it.  I look at myself obsessing over it, watching myself change my ringtone and wallpaper on my cell phone to things from the movie, change my myspace to a Blind Mag layout, join communities for it, and tell everyone I've ever met that they need to see it... and I can't stop it.  Actually... I don't want to stop.

For those who don't know what Repo! is, here's a description of the plot from IMDB:
In the year 2056 - the not so distant future - an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants, for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family's mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Now picture that, layed out in the form of an industrial/goth rock opera.  The film is absolutely FUCKING AMAZING.  It's visually stunning, the songs are fantastic, not to mention the all-star cast.  I can't praise it enough, but sadly it hasn't gotten the recognition it very much deserves.

Even if you don't like musicals, I really recommend checking out Repo! at least once.  A lot of people who thought they would hate it have absolutely loved it.
